Harvey Knibbs has completed his exit from Reading FC to join Championship side Charlton Athletic.
It is believed that the Royals have received a fee in the region of £1.8million for the 26-year-old midfielder.
Reading manager Noel Hunt confirmed on Thursday that there had been a delay with the deal and it looked to be off the cards.
However, after hitting a stumbling block the deal has now been completed.
Since joining Reading in 2023 on a free transfer from Cambridge United, Knibbs has contributed to more goals than any other player in the division (25 goals and 12 assists) across two seasons.
Knibbs was Reading’s top scorer last campaign with 14 league goals as the team narrowly missed out on the play-off places by just one position.
With less than a week to go until the start of the 2025/26 League One campaign, Reading appear to still need several more reinforcements to try and compete among the top six.
They are particularly light in attack with just two forwards currently in the squad, Kelvin Ehibhatiomhan and loanee Mark O’Mahoney.
Reading begin the new season away to Lincoln City on Saturday (3pm kick-off).
