Local residents have reacted on social media after a new poll has suggested that Reform UK would win in Bracknell with a huge majority if a general election was to be held tomorrow.
According to Electoral Calculus, if an election was to be held this week, Reform UK would take a significant victory in Bracknell in every ward except Binfield South and Jennett’s Park.
However, this has prompted a strong reaction on social media from hundreds of local residents.
One resident said: “What will Reform do if they are ever in power? Reform will put up council tax and destroy the NHS. If you are sick you will need an insurance policy to pay for your treatment. You won’t get one if you are old or if you are already sick.”
Another added: “They’d better start saving for private health care and massive council tax hikes then lol. Bracknell residents, have a look at how Reform have performed in the councils they’ve taken over before you decide (unless you’re mega rich of course). How people can believe the rhetoric of all our problems being caused by immigration is beyond anyone with half a brain. Do your homework people!
One resident said: “Remember that Nigel (Farage) owes us £300billion (and counting) for Brexit costs.”
Another resident commented: “It’s probably got to happen tbh. Until Farridge has been held to account for all his BS, the country won’t get him out their system.
“We’ve had this rubbish bubbling away since before Brexit. The country does need to hit rock bottom before it can come back again better.
“Unfortunately that will mean having a Reform government, & it’ll be survival of the fittest. Which will be brutal. The last time I said it’ll be brutal was when the pandemic started in relation to the deaths, I knew it would be, & it was. And a Reform government will be. But maybe for our kids future, we have to go through it again.”
Another added: “If you vote for Nigel Farage and the reform UK party it will be a bit like Brexit sounded good at the time, but then you wish you never voted for it. All those little boats that come over did not come over when we were in the EU NHS free at the point of use won’t be around because he wants American style Healthcare you will have to pay Health Insurance and if you don’t get it, you will not be seen or treated. He wants to run this country like America, you were warned.
One more added: “Everyone’s seen what they’ve done when they’ve won; hiked up taxes, usually by 4.99% to avoid a referendum. Then increased their Councillor’s wages. Then they fail the people and made some excuses (“We shouldn’t have bothered winning Worcestershire”).
“They do petulant little displays like having their MP’s walk out of the job WE pay them to do (PMQ’s) when they get even slightly challenged, and call themselves ‘brave’ for it. Look at what they’ve done everywhere they’ve won and you’ll see what will happen if they get in at Bracknell.”
