Residents of Bracknell are being warned that Live Facial Recognition (LFR) vans will be operating at The Lexicon shopping centre on Thursday 5 March.
The specialist LFR team will be working alongside local police officers to identify known suspects, deter crime, and make the area safer for shoppers and visitors.
Officers say they are letting the public know in advance so that everyone is aware of the technology in use. While some individuals may choose to avoid the vans, police emphasise that LFR is designed to prevent crime as well as catch offenders.
Members of the public are invited to speak with officers and see how the technology works. Police say they are committed to using the system fairly and responsibly, and demonstrations will be available for anyone interested in learning more.
For further details about the LFR vans and their use, the public can visit the Thames Valley Police information page.
