A CELEBRATION of romance was loved by residents of a Lower Earley care home last week.
Austen House in Kilnsea Drive was filled with flowers, cards and sweets for Valentine’s Day on Tuesday, February 14.
The day started by baking heart-shaped cookies. Residents opened greetings made by children from the surrounding community, and there was a performed from singer Jim. His set list included love songs such as Love Is In The Air, All You Need Is Love, the Elvis classic Love Me Tender.
Resident Jane enjoyed herself.
“It was wonderful to see everyone go to so much effort to get involved with the day’s festivities,” she said.
“I really liked baking heart-shaped cookies and all the chocolate treats.”
The home’s general manager, Seva Hashimova, said: “We’ve all had a lovely day decorating the home and making gifts for each other and for our loved ones.
“Lots of our residents were able to see their loved ones either in person or via video call.
“We’ve had a whole range of treats and Valentine’s themed fun and we have enjoyed every moment of it.”
