A man has been charged with murder following the death of a woman in Henley-on-Thames, police have said.
Officers from Thames Valley Police were called to Phyllis Court Drive in Henley-on-Thames after a 44-year-old woman from the town was found dead.
The woman’s next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers. Police said their thoughts remain with the family at this difficult time.
A post-mortem examination carried out on Saturday recorded the cause of death as drowning. Formal identification of the victim has not yet taken place, and police have said they are not currently in a position to release her name.
Following consultation with the Crown Prosecution Service, a man has now been charged in connection with the incident.
Nelio Gouveia, 44, of Phyllis Court Drive, Henley-on-Thames, has been charged with one count of murder.
He has been remanded in custody and is due to appear at High Wycombe Magistrates’ Court on Monday.
Thames Valley Police said their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death is ongoing.
