A 21-year-old man from St Albans has been charged in connection with a robbery at Carphone Warehouse in Shepherds Hill last week.
Mazidur Muhit was arrested on Thursday, February 4, and charged with one count of robbery and one count of possession of an imitation firearm whilst committing a schedule one offence on Friday (5).
He appeared at Reading Magistrates’ Court on Saturday and remanded to appear at Reading Crown Court on March 7.
The charges relate to the incident on Tuesday, February 2 when two men walked into the Carphone Warehouse in London Road, Earley. One of the offenders was carrying a hammer and the other man appeared to be carrying another weapon wrapped in a cloth.
There were two members of staff in the store at the time. The men threatened to shoot the staff and demanded to be let into the back of the store. They stole multiple mobile phones and a laptop, and phones belonging to the staff were also taken.
