A fast food giant is looking to open a third store in Bracknell.
McDonald’s Restaurants Ltd has revealed it is ‘actively reviewing’ the Bracknell area for a third store alongside its sites at The Lexicon and The Keep.
The chain said it was looking to open the third branch in plans revealed for major changes at The Keep, Wildridings.
This site has seen ‘outdated’ IT systems and kitchen processes, with difficulty implementing changes due to the store’s proximity to trees and highways, plans said.
If approved by Bracknell Forest Council, the proposal would see six trees under a protection order removed, as well as changes to the access, car park and drive-thru operations.
Three trees would also require minor works, while the six felled would be replanted.
In 2017, McDonald’s Restaurants Ltd said it employs 189 people across Bracknell Forest, with 164 in restaurants and 26 in the supply chain.
This was before the opening of the second location at the Lexicon Shopping centre.
In total, the company said it has contributed £2.89 million to the economy in Bracknell Forest.
More members of staff would be taken on with the expansion of the Wildridings site.
Plans did not indicate where the potential third site could be.
Bracknell Forest Council has validated the application for changes at The Keep, and a decision is yet to be made.
