A mother and son from Reading have been jailed following a Thames Valley Police investigation into drug supply offences.
Sarah Cooke, 55, of Kestrel Way, and her son Jamie Cooke, 40, of Severn Way, were sentenced at Reading Crown Court on Monday. Ms Cooke was jailed for three years and eight months, while her son received a sentence of five years and seven months.
Police said officers discovered Class A drugs and a mobile phone containing messages advertising drugs at an address in Kestrel Way on 10 July last year. Both defendants were arrested and charged the following day.
At an earlier court hearing in September, the pair pleaded guilty to being concerned in the supply of cocaine and heroin, as well as two counts of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs.
Investigating officer PC Liam Steel, from Thames Valley Police’s Proactive Team in Reading, said officers were committed to disrupting drug dealing in the area.
He added that members of the public played an important role in helping police tackle drug crime and encouraged anyone with information to report it via the police non-emergency number or online.
