I’m not really a big fan of February but it’s a short month and there’s now only three weeks to go until my favourite month.
January was a d r a g and seemed to have more Mondays than the entire summer however the mornings are getting brighter, the days are getting longer and the garden is showing signs that Spring is well and truly on its way.
Although the snow at the weekend hid rather a lot but when it melted the dainty snowdrops, crocus and daffodils were peeping through.
Mounds abound
This area had loads more snow than other areas and when I came back after being away for a few days there were small mounds of snow dotted around.
I have to admit I was watching the weather and wondering if it was really going to happen, only to be told it really was on the way by Ruth Wignall. And snow it did indeed.
Cold weather benefits
The cold weather though does have its benefits though and I have hunkered down at the end of the day and enjoyed curling up with a good book and I can tell you that Louis & Louise by Julie Cohen is one to read.
I chaired Julie’s event at Wokingham Library last month which was great fun and hearing her read an excerpt prompted me to read the rest of the book in her accent.
Books are a great source of pleasure and I have a varied TBR pile. My youngest has just started reading Agatha Christie, beginning with Ordeal by Innocence a hardback of my grandfather’s from 1959 when he was the age I am now.
Two Doors Down
I might be late to the party but I have been enjoying Two Doors Down and having lived in a “close knit community” road in my 20s it has had me chuckling at the subtle humour.
I’m a bit behind on Silent Witness which earlier in the series covered drugs, I found those two episodes incredibly sad and as Elizabeth Burton-Phillips MBE founder of DrugFam has said “Drug abuse and addiction is not a spectator sport eventually all the family get to play”.

Feeling fabulous
Now that I have done 23 weeks without sugar I can safely say I feel fabulous, I felt fab at seven weeks to be honest and that “feel good” has carried on.
When asked if it was hard the answer is no.
I had been unwell and needed to do something.
I used to snack on sugary snacks all the time little realising I was just feeding a sugar addiction.
I don’t miss anything as I don’t miss the old me and I have found some great recipes.
It is frightening to know how much sugar is in things and I’ve been learning.
Healthy snacks they may be but sugar isn’t necessary.
Every day’s a school day.
