THE LATEST volunteers for a charity which helps children attend clubs have completed their induction training.
Me2 Club enables children with a range of additional needs to access mainstream leisure activities, such as Guides and Cubs.
It will now match its 12 new recruits to children across Wokingham and Reading.
Christ Church Woodley hosted the event, held on Tuesday, February 22.
The charity’s activities and volunteers co-ordinators led the group though a series of activities to prepare them for supporting a child. Topics covered included challenging behaviour, inclusion, safeguarding and volunteer responsibilities.
One of the people who attended the event said that they found it informative and useful.
“It helped me feel more confident on being matched with a child,” they said.
Me2 Club volunteers are aged 16 years and over. They are matched to support a child at an activity following a series of checks and interviews.
The training was supported by the Alexandra Briess Legacy Fund, set up in memory of a Me2 volunteer who died in May 2021.
