F.C. Bracknell has kicked off a brand-new Walking Football programme aimed at encouraging men and women aged 40 and over to rediscover their love of the game while improving their health, fitness, and wellbeing.
The sessions take place every Thursday evening from 8-9pm at Brakenhale School, Rectory Lane, Bracknell (RG12 7BA), and are open to players of all abilities whether you last kicked a ball last week or decades ago.
Walking Football is one of the fastest-growing sports in the UK, offering a slower-paced, low-impact version of the game that focuses on enjoyment, movement, and connection. It’s ideal for anyone looking to stay active, boost mental health, and meet new people in a relaxed and welcoming setting.
“This isn’t about competition or how fast you can run,” said a F.C. Bracknell spokesperson.
“It’s about community giving people a place to be active, social, and part of something positive again. Football has always had the power to bring people together, and Walking Football is a brilliant example of that.”
Participants can expect light-hearted sessions with friendly matches, plenty of laughter, and a warm, inclusive atmosphere true to the club’s motto, “Football For All.”
With growing evidence that regular exercise helps reduce stress, anxiety, and isolation, F.C. Bracknell hopes Walking Football will become a cornerstone of its community programme, providing a safe and enjoyable way to stay fit both physically and mentally.
Anyone interested in joining can simply turn up on the night or get in touch via the club’s social media channels.
