NOMINATIONS are now being accepted for those members of the community who deserve recognition for their outstanding contributions to Wokingham.
Each year, the Wokingham Town Council Civic Awards recognises individuals living or working within the Wokingham town boundary who have made an outstanding achievement or contribution to the town.
Nominations can be made for people who care for others in the community, carry out voluntary work, add to the town culturally or artistically, or who simply serve the general
public and act as a good neighbour in the town.
The nominations will be judged by a selection panel of judges including members of Wokingham Town Council’s Civic Committee and the High Steward of Wokingham, Lady Elizabeth Godsal MBE. The successful nominees will be notified by Friday, December 22, and will be invited to an Awards Ceremony at the Town Hall on Friday, January 26.
Chair of the Civic Committee, Cllr Gwynneth Hewetson said: “Wokingham Town Council takes great pride in recognising those individuals who have significantly supported our Wokingham community. I encourage you all to think of people you know who have contributed to our town and nominate them to be considered for this important award.”
Town Mayor, Cllr Peter Lucey said: “I will be honoured to host the 2018 ceremony and meet with those people who have been nominated to receive an award.
“I have come to know so many people in Wokingham who undertake such valuable voluntary work, we would like your help to nominate these people so that Wokingham Town Council can thank them personally.”
The deadline for nominations is Thursday, November 30. For more information on how to nominate and a full list of criteria visit www.wokingham-tc.gov.uk/civic/civic-awards.
