FANS OF buses in Reading will we able to take a deep dive into their history with a new talk.
Historian Paul Lacey will delve into the history of Smiths Coaches, which operated in Reading between 1922 and 1979 and were a vital part of the town’s transport network.
They also appeared around the country for over 60 years, after the company was founded by two-time mayor of Reading, Mr A E Smith.
The talk will follow the history of the coaches from a single, open charabanc to the largest fleet of family-owned coaches in the south east.
Smith’s Coaches of Reading: 1922 to 1979 takes place at the Garden Wall, Watlington House, from 2pm-3pm on Saturday, November 4.
