A JUDOKA from Pinewood Judo Club triumphed at the London Area Universities and Colleges Senior Open earlier this month.
Callum Jones, who represented the Berkshire College of Agriculture at the British Judo Association-hosted open on November 12, which took place at SportsDock, a brand new state-of- the-art sport facility, situated within the University of East London.
Jones won silver young men’s under twenty-one section and gold in the senior men’s section, and was the youngest competitor in both categories, losing only one fight out of six.
The rising star has been learning the art of judo at the Old Wokingham Road club since he was six-years-old, and has previously won two gold medals.
He is now aiming to compete in the National Competition in February 2018 where, if he succeeds, he can go on to represent England at the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo.
Head of Horticulture at BCA, Vicky Beckwith said: “We are extremely proud of Callum’s achievements, not only is he dedicated to his studies in Horticulture but his extra curricular Judo activities are clearly outstanding.”
