Wokingham will mark June’s 80th anniversary of D-Day with a series of events.
David Dunham, Wokingham’s Poppy Appeal organiser, has revealed plans for Thursday, June 6.
There will be collection points throughout the town, named after the beaches involved in the landings.
“For example, Sainsbury’s in Winnersh will be Juno,” he said.
The ‘beaches’ will be selling limited-edition pin badges and collecting for the Royal British Legion.
He also said a display of military vehicles will be held in Market Place, and the REME Room in the Town Hall will be open.
There are also plans for an art competition involving local schools.
David is searching for volunteers to help with collections on the day. He would also be keen to hear from anyone with artefacts and memorabilia from D-Day that could form part of the display on the day.
