I hear sunflowers flourish in Russia,
They face east towards the rising sun,
Across the plains of the Matryoshka.
Ukraine is their neighbour and brother…
What dreadful things have been done,
Meanwhile sunflowers flourish in Russia.
How will Ukraine begin to recover…
While mad men gaze at the midday sun
Across the plains of the Matryoshka…
Energy warfare, the like of no other:
A new age of combat has begun,
Meanwhile sunflowers flourish in Russia.
Is there anguish for how Ukraine suffers?
Or is it all about what Putin has spun…
Across the plains of the Matryoshka.
Seeds handed out by a wise babushka,
To face west towards the setting sun:
A sunflower for each fallen Russian,
Sent to their death by the Matryoshka.
