THAMES Valley Police is asking members of the public to help improve policing in Wokingham.
The Force is keen to recruit more members to its Independent Advisory Group which covers the town and become more active in local policing.
The IAG is particularly keen to expand its diversity across a variety of communities within the town.
A police spokesperson said it is looking for people who are passionate about their community: “Members of the IAG are there to bring challenges to the local Police Commander, provide ideas and a steer on how your local police teams can better police the area, such as how to support residents, younger people, minority ethnic communities.
“The Commander will also ask the IAG for advice when facing particular issues, whether it being an issue that is of national interest that is putting a spotlight on policing, or something that is affecting the local community.”
“The IAG meets four times a year, with meetings lasting no more than two hours. An IAG member also needs to take time to listen to their community and to provide feedback to their community;
“Being an IAG member is extremely rewarding, being able to support your local communities, while helping your local policing teams to better their service.”
