PLANS are being made for this year’s Woodley Festival of Music and Arts, which runs in March.
This is the 48th year that the annual event has been held and organisers are expecting a bumper crop of entries.
Last year, more than 2,400 performers aged between six and 60 took part in the event, with audiences totalling more than 7,000. They included the then Reading East MP Rob Wilson, who handed out medals for some classes and also took time to praise the work of volunteers who help run the festival.
And 2017 also saw the introduction of a new musical theatre class, which organisers say produced some very memorable performances.
This year’s festival will be held at The Oakwood Centre in Woodley over the weekends of March 3-4, 10-11 and 17-18, with a finale concert taking place on Sunday, March 18.
A spokesperson for the festival said: “The Woodley Festival prides itself on its warm and friendly environment with the emphasis being on the enjoyment of performance and the appreciation of others’ efforts, all in the presence of professional adjudicators and a supportive audience.
