Hawkedon Primary School have run an exciting National Trust inspired club for the last three terms, which has proven popular with the pupils.
The club, which is based around National Trusts 50 things to do before your 11 and ¾s framework, is the most popular club run at Hawkedon.
The after-school club is open to Years 3-6 and is led by three members of staff: Nikki Gladwin-Stride, John Smaje and Janet Brailey, who organise all of the activities.
The club includes a trip to Dinton Pastures every other week and the children have chance to build dens, hunt for bugs, play Pooh-sticks, make fires and cook marshmallows, build mud plus and enjoy everything that the great outdoors has to offer.
Nikki, who has a background in outdoor education said: “It’s such a wonderful opportunity for the children to experience being kids! Going outside, getting their hands dirty and having fun.
“The children are able to explore wildlife and nature and plus the fantastic booklets, provided free-of-charge by the national trust, give the children a real sense of achievement when they write up their experiences and gain stickers upon completion, and they can still carry on ticking the 50 boxes in their own time with their families too.
“With Easter coming up, I highly recommend visiting the National Trust Website, and printing of a #50things work sheet as a free, fun activity to do with your little ones.”
