IT WAS a year of momentous revelations and shocking events.
In 1994, two of the world’s biggest pop stars – Harry Styles and Justin Bieber – were born.
It was also the year when the Queen fell off her horse and broke her wrist, while Hollywood royalty, Elizabeth Taylor, had hip surgery.
Meanwhile, in Lower Earley, new owners took up residence in a four-bedroom house in Allonby Close and made it their home.
Now, 25 years later, that link detached house is on sale for the very first time.
But worry not. Prospective buyers of this lovely property need not be fans of the lead singer of One Direction (or 1Direction if you are musically pedantic.)
You may prefer Engelbart Humperdinck to tattooed Canadian singers and Ms Taylor’s performance in Cleopatra might leave you cold.
But even Her Majesty would give a nod of approval for this splendid house in one of Lower Earley’s favourite locations.
By anyone’s decree, a house must be very special if it is being offered for sale for the first time in a quarter of a century.
This property is situated in a wonderful location close to Laurel Park, Brookside Surgery and, Maiden Place shopping centre.
It benefits from two reception rooms, a well-planned modern kitchen, a downstairs cloakroom and utility. The kitchen includes a handy breakfast bar so if you are running late for work with only time for a snack, you can still enjoy the most important meal of the day in comfort. There is also a dining room off the kitchen which is wonderful for entertaining more formal events.
The living room has a wonderful fireplace, not too large or too small, with patio doors leading out to the well-kept garden.
Upstairs you will discover four bedrooms, with the master benefiting from an en-suite. There is also a family bathroom.
Outside is a driveway for two cars, a lovely curved front garden and an attached garage.
If schools are to be included as part of your home search, you will be pleased to note that Allonby Close is within Maiden Erlegh and Bulmershe School catchment areas.
This is a house which has been lovingly cared for and is bang up-to-date for today’s living requirements.
A viewing is certainly called for, but best be quick. Word on the grapevine is Justin Bieber is looking for a UK house and he is certainly someone who knows a Number One hit when he sees it.
