The long history of news publishing in Peach Street is continuing with the opening of a new office for Wokingham Today and Reading Today.
The town’s local newspaper, which also publishes Reading Today, opened a newsroom at 57f Peach Street on Monday.
Previously, Peach Street was home to The Wokingham Times during the 1980s and 1990s in what is now the Tamarind Tree restaurant. It later re-located to Denmark Street before ceasing publishing in December 2014.
Having established the business as a social enterprise in 2018, publisher David Riley said the latest move represents a significant investment in hyper-local media, and is an important milestone in the growth of the newspaper and its online media business.
It also puts the newspaper right at the heart of the community it serves.
