STAFF at Reading Buses are celebrating after the firm was shortlisted for four excellence awards.

The four shortlistings for routeone Excellence Awards represent all the company categories for which Reading Buses could be considered.

Two of them, Operator Training Award and Large Bus Operator (over 150 vehicles), are for the eighth consecutive year.

The others are Best Use of Technology (a bus operator with over 150 vehicles) and Environment, shortlisted for the second year running.

Robert Williams, Reading Buses chief executive officer, said: “”The environment shortlisting is particularly symbolic as we love ‘planet Reading’.

“We’re doing everything we can, no matter how small, to help the environment – whether it’s investing in gas buses, rainwater harvesting, solar panels on our depot roof or simply encouraging drivers to switch their engines off when they are stationary.

“The Best Use of Technology shortlisting reflects the technology development, including our improved app and website where customers can track their bus, see live bus times and plan their journey.

“This, combined with our engineering technology to make buses more reliable, helps give our customers a better service.

“Once again, the company is delighted that we have been shortlisted for these prestigious industry awards.

“This is an amazing achievement because it represents all the company specific categories for which we could have been considered.”

He added: “It is well done to all our employees and their hard work every day that we are once again shortlisted for so many awards. The company is thrilled and looking forward to the announcement of the winners in October.”
