READING WOMEN’S Under-16s are through to the FA Youth Cup final after beating Manchester United.
Royals came from 1-0 down at Bisham Abbey to triumph 2-1, becoming the first Reading side to reach a Girls Youth Cup final.
Following away victories at Charlton Athletic, Arsenal, Chelsea and Southampton to reach this stage, Reading were finally rewarded with a home tie.
And it was a memorable occasion. Watched by the first team boss Kelly Chambers and many of the senior squad players, Reading fell behind for the first time in the competition.
But they equalised with 20 minutes to play when England U16 striker Emma Harries curled a free-kick into the top corner.
And the comeback was complete moments later as full-back Bethan Roberts’ cross was turned into her own net by the United goalkeeper.
The final will be played at St George’s Park on April 14 against Manchester City after they saw off Leicester 4-2 at the weekend.
