Reading FC will open their 2022/23 Championship campaign away at Blackpool on Saturday, July 30.

The Royals will be looking to push on in their first full season under manager Paul Ince after he helped guide the team away from the relegation zone in the 2021/22 campaign to a 21st placed finish.

Reading survived a close shave with relegation in a turbulent season on and off the pitch as they were hit by a transfer embargo, deducted six points for breaching profit and sustainability rules and changed managers more than halfway through the season after Veljko Paunovic was sacked.

However, it will be another testing time for the Berkshire club who are once again under a transfer embargo which will limit them to signing free agents and loan players.

So far this transfer window, Reading have signed Andy Yiadom and Tom Holmes to contract extensions while several more senior players are out of contract at the end of the month.

Reading have already lost two key players after their contracts expired as John Swift joined West Bromwich Albion, while Josh Laurent departed to join Stoke City, both on free transfers.
