Reading FC are set to make their first signing of the summer transfer window with the addition of Lincoln City captain Paudie O’Connor.
The Royals have beaten competition from several League One clubs to sign the 27-year-old centre back on a free transfer.
Lincoln were said to be ‘desperate’ to keep hold of their skipper and offered him a new deal, but he has decided to opt for a new venture in Berkshire.
Football transfer correspondent for FootyInsider24/7, Pete O’Rourke, has reported that O’Connor will have a medical at Reading today ahead of completing his move.
He made 39 appearances in League One for Lincoln last campaign in their 11th placed finish.
He earned praise throughout his three seasons with Lincoln as they conceded the second fewest goals of any team in the league in the 2023/24 campaign.
Having spent three seasons in League One with Lincoln, the 6ft3’ defender has also played for Leeds United, Blackpool and Bradford City.
