Reading FC have been dealt a significant blow in their push for play-offs as two players have been ruled out for the remainder of the season.
Defender Benn Ward, who arrived in January, and winger Randell Williams will both miss the rest of the campaign.
The Royals currently sit just outside of the top six prior to their meeting with Wigan Athletic on Saturday, who are fighting to stay in the division
Williams was forced off during Reading’s 1-0 defeat at Stevenage, with the club already dealing with a growing injury list. Defender Jeriel Dorsett was also substituted in the same match as concerns mounted for manager Leam Richardson.
Ward had already been sidelined after suffering an injury earlier this month, with Richardson previously warning the news was unlikely to be positive following scans.
Williams has been a key attacking option since joining the club, scoring and creating chances from wide areas, including a goal in the recent draw with Plymouth Argyle.
Ward, who joined Reading from Accrington Stanley in January on a long-term deal, has quickly established himself in defence and had impressed with a series of consistent performances.
Reading now face the remainder of the campaign without two important first-team players as they look to maintain their push towards the League One play-off places.
