Reading FC left-back Andre Garcia could be on the brink of leaving the club after Belgian side Club Brugge reportedly tabled a formal proposal to sign the young defender.
The 18-year-old, a graduate of Reading’s academy who has been with the first team since 2024, is one of the Royals’ most promising talents. Mainly deployed at left-back but also capable further up the flank, Garcia made 43 appearances for the club in all competitions during the 2024/25, however his game time has been limited this season.
According to reports, Club Brugge have submitted an offer to Reading for the England youth international. While exact financial details of the proposal have not been disclosed, Garcia’s current contract at the Select Car Leasing Stadium is due to expire in June 2026.
Garcia has enjoyed mixed fortunes this season. After a breakthrough campaign last year where he was a regular starter, this term has seen him fall down the pecking order under new management.
He has made just nine appearances in League One this campaign, totalling 178 minutes.
That has led to speculation over his future, with the Belgium club’s interest seen as a chance for the defender to reignite his development. Reading, currently competing in League One, will face a choice between cashing in on the academy product or risking losing him on a free transfer when his contract expires in the summer.
For Club Brugge, a club regularly competing in the Belgian Jupiler Pro League and European competitions, signing Garcia would add youthful depth to their defensive options and underline their ambition to nurture young talent. For Garcia, it could represent an important step in his career, giving him the platform to play at a higher level and potentially feature in continental football.
