AHEAD of the Royals’ game against Brighton today, a short act of Remembrance was held at the Madejski Stadium. Led by the Revd Vernon Orr from St Agnes church in Whitley and club chaplain Steve Prince, the service gave Reading FC the chance to pause and remember those who lost their lives during conflict.
Laying wreaths were Reading FC chairman Sir John Madejski, chairman of Reading FC Vice Presidents’ Club Eddie Dove, Mick Stocks of STAR, Carol Bucknell from Relatives of the Fallen Players, Oliver Pring of Young Royals and Mick Gooding of Reading FC Former Players’ Association).
Music came from the Reading Scottish Pipe Band, who also played outside the ground before the game.
The event took place at the club’s Remembrance Wall, by Gate 1 at the stadium.
It was not the only act of remembrance taking place today. A minute’s silence will be observed before kick-off at 3pm.
