A COMMUNITY group whose aim is to improve Wokingham’s natural environment has announced their new title sponsor.
Wokingham in Bloom’s new supporter is Hurst based heating and plumbing cover business, SecureHeat Ltd.
Morag Malvern, Wokingham in Bloom Committee Chair, said: “Sponsors are essential to the future of Wokingham in Bloom.
“We have many projects on the go each year, including community gardens and the regeneration of unloved spaces.
“All these bring different segments of the community together.
“We’ve always got plenty of practical and creative work going on throughout the year to keep our 140 volunteers busy, so funding and partnership work are essential to help us take projects to the next level.”
SecureHeat’s, Will Monk, a keen environmentalist, has already been on site with the SecureHeat team at Howard Palmer Gardens to install a bug house that they built.
Mr Monk commented: “Wokingham in Bloom is an amazing initiative, enriching the local environment for all Wokingham generations to enjoy.
“Living and working in the local area, I am so pleased that my company can support this amazing project.
“We’re looking forward to having even more involvement with Wokingham in Bloom in 2024.”
The Royal Horticultural Society’s, Britain in Bloom, is one of the largest horticultural campaigns in Europe with the year round aim of creating a more beautiful Britain.
Wokingham in Bloom won its first regional gold award for a large town in the Britain in Bloom Thames and Chiltern competition in 2022.
This means that Wokingham is automatically entered into the National Finals for 2023.
Ms Malvern said: “With a large number of projects on the go, having SecureHeat on board is a huge boost for the Bloom team.
“They have already shown that they are an enthusiastic, hands-on partner and we look forward to developing future plans with them.”
Alongside the bug house, other SecureHeat supported Wokingham in Bloom projects include Wokingham Community Fire Station Art Competition installations at the fire station and in local vacant shop windows.
Next year they will be involved with an Elms Field water refill station installation.
