Reading FC protest group Sell Before We Dai has said that news of exclusivity with a new party should be treated with ‘cautious optimism’.
The club announced on Monday that it has entered exclusivity with a new party regarding a purchase of the club from Dai Yongge which will include the club, the Select Car Leasing Stadium and Bearwood Park training ground.
A statement released by SBWD said: “This news should be treated with cautious optimism.
“Yes, we’ve been here before, we can never fully trust Dai Yongge’s behaviour and it’s not done until it’s done.
“But, despite the damage done by Dai Yongge, investors still see our potential. Reading Football Club – with its tremendous fanbase, facilities and staff – is a football club that people want to buy.
“Now let’s see if Reading Football Club is a club Dai Yongge really wants to sell.”
The club has now been up for sale for almost a full year.
Negotiations have been close to being completed several times, most recently with former Wycombe Wanderers chairman Rob Couhig before talks broke down at the final stages.
