A SINDLESHAM food delivery man has been jailed for nearly three years after first harassing and then sexually abusing a Reading woman.
Forid Khil stopped his victim as she walked along Reading Bridge around 9.20pm on Sunday, January 15 last year.
Reading Crown Court heard that he blocked her way with the bike he used when delivering food.
After asking her personal questions, he then demanded her phone number. The victim thought by giving him this, he would leave her alone, but instead he followed her.
Khil, 28 and of Mill Lane, then carried out the sexual assault.
Over the next two weeks, he called and messaged her repeatedly, until he was reported to the police.
The second incident occurred between February and July 2023.
Khil befriended the victim, and began bringing her free food from the delivery company he worked for.
He invited himself into the victim’s home and, due to his behaviour, the victim told him she did not want to see him again.
After this, he became obsessed and started turning up at her address every day, knocking on her door and windows, calling her and sending her messages and demanding for her to let him in. The victim refused and threatened to call the police.
The third incident occurred on 30 June 30 last year, when another victim ordered food using a food delivery app.
At 11.15am Khil turned up at the victim’s house on his bike to deliver her food. Khil asked the victim invasive questions, demanded her phone number and asked to kiss her.
When she declined, he put his foot in the way of the door, tried to push into her home, and reached forwards with his hand and touched the victim over her clothing.
Following an investigation, Khil was arrested on August 3 and charged the next day.
At Reading Crown Court on Monday, May 20, Khil was sentenced to two years and eight months. He must also sign the Sex Offenders Registered for life and be subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
Investigating officer Detective Constable Anaïs Banneville, of the Priority Crime Team based at Reading police station, said: “I would like to thank the victims for coming forward and supporting our investigation and their courage should be commended.
“Had it not been for the bravery of these three victims supporting the investigation, it is likely that Khil would have continued to offend by preying on lone females.
“I hope this prison sentence goes some way in giving victims the confidence to come forward to the police to report such offences.”
