YOU CAN’T beat a golden oldie, and you can’t beat hearing something new.

And that’s exactly what we’re offering you this week with the RaW Sounds Today playlist.

Heading it is the wonderful 10cc, which we recently enjoyed at The Hexagon. Also appearing are Annie Dressner and Grace Pounds, two new artists who we think you’ll love.

10cc – I’m Mandy Fly Me

The band is touring to celebrate over 50 years since they released their self-titled debut album. We popped along to their recent show at Reading Hexagon and what a delight it was.

We were treated to a performance of so many gems from throughout their career. There were iconic hits such as I’m Not In Love, Dreadlock Holiday and this classic as well as some less known but utterly brilliant songs such as Somewhere in Hollywood and one of my all-time faves, the beautiful Old Wild Men.

I was lucky enough to see the band many years ago in their original lineup.

Now Graham Gouldman is the only one remaining but he plays with an excellent set of musicians some of whom have been part of the band’s live set-up since the early days.

They all performed perfectly, showcasing the inventive brilliance of all those wonderful timeless songs – https://www.10cc.world/

Annie Dressner – Dance We Do

Annie is an NYC-born Cambridge-based singer-songwriter who releases her new album, I Thought It Would Be Easier this Friday.

She produces quality emotional songs with an Americana feel ranging from mellow ballads to more upbeat songs such as this melodically infectious single from the album.

Grace Pounds – Notice

We’ve heard good things about this young singer-songwriter from Reading so were very keen to listen to this debut single. We weren’t disappointed.

Grace has a distinctive and wonderful tone to her voice and she has written a very good song here. It certainly makes us want to hear more. Grace will be supporting Funke and the Two Tone Baby on May 2 at Reading Face Bar and she is also appearing at Are You Listening? on May 11, and Readipop on July 12 – https://www.facebook.com/GracePoundsMusic
