Mild weather gave way to heavy rain, hailstones, wind and sunshine today as Storm Abigail nibbled Wokingham.
The Met Office has issued warnings for parts of Scotland and Northern Britain, with up to two months worth of rain due to fall over the next 48 hours. But Wokingham does not escape – Saturday’s weather will be wet, cold and miserable as the storm heads south.
Wokingham had a taste of it today as the wet weather swept in and temperatures of around 6ºC this afternoon.
Our photographer Paul King was in Wokingham where he caught a lot of different weather conditions in one day: heavy rain, wind, hail and even a rainbow.
According to The Met Office:
Saturday will start dry but get wetter and windier as the day goes on. Heavy rain is forecast from mid morning to mid afternoon, with the wind rising from 6pm. Temperatures will peak at 11ºC, but wind chill will mean it feels a lot colder.
Sunday will remain windy but should be dry. It will be milder, with temperatures expected to hit 14ºC.
There is a possibility of flooding.
Storm Abigail is the first storm to be named by the Met Office as part of its Name Our Storms pilot project.
