DON’T let your green recycling bag become a victim of Storm Eunice.
Wokingham Borough Council says that its waste collections are currently planned to go ahead as normal tomorrow, despite predictions of winds reaching up to 70mph.
The Met Office has an amber warning in place for the storm between 5am to 9pm tomorrow, with more high winds predicted for Saturday.
In a social media post, Wokingham Borough Council says that the amber warning could see flying debris, road closures, delays to public transport, fallen trees and power cuts as likely.
Despite this, council staff will be doing everything they can to keep business as usual.
On the doorstep collections for rubbish, the council says: “All waste collections go ahead as normal.
“If you are due a collection ensure your recycling bags are tightly sealed when you put them out.
“Please get your bags, caddies and garden waste bins inside quickly if you’re at home.”
They also advise that garden furniture and similar items should be moved inside or secured.
To report blocked roads, call 0118 974 6000 and select ‘highways option 2’.
Non-urgent issues with trees can be reported via the council’s website, Wokingham.gov.uk.
And the council has an out of hours service for an issue that could be a danger to life, property or likely to cause a major disruption. This is not for reporting issues again for requesting updates.
It can be used by calling 0800 211 111 between 5pm and 9am weekdays, and all day on weekends.
