An ancient bridge in Swallowfield has reopened to vehicles after being closed for more than two weeks following a lorry collision.
The incident occurred on 11 February when a lorry struck one side of the bridge on Church Road, causing significant damage. Pedestrian and cyclist access was restored shortly afterward, but a full assessment by Wokingham Borough Council was delayed due to the high level of the River Blackwater beneath the structure.
Temporary concrete barriers have now been installed along the edge of the bridge to separate traffic from the river while any further safety measures are considered.
Thames Valley Police confirmed that no arrests were made in connection with the crash. The incident remains open pending any additional information.
