Great Western Railway is doubling capacity on trains to make the journey to the Henley Regatta smoother.
But be prepared, it’s likely to be a busy ride.
To keep up with the high demand, GWR will run an enhanced shuttle service between Twyford and Henley-on-Thames from Tuesday, July 1, until Sunday, July 6, timed to connect with mainline services from London Paddington.
Expect half-hourly four-carriage trains during the week and a longer seven-carriage service on the Saturday.
Crowds are expected, so queuing systems will be in place at both Twyford and Henley stations.
Plan ahead, arrive early, and travel smart – buy your digital ticket beforehand – so you can focus on enjoying the regatta in full swing.
How do I get to Henley?
GWR operates services from London Paddington to Twyford, where you can change for the connecting 12-minute journey to Henley-on-Thames.
Purchasing (digital) tickets before you board and allowing plenty of time to pass through the station are some of the ways you can make the experience seamless.
GWR station manager for Twyford and Henley, Mian Sarwar said: “It’s fantastic to have this world-renowned event on our patch, and with such great local transport links people really can leave the car at home.
“I would however urge you to allow time for your journey. A queuing system will be in place at both Twyford and Henley so passengers can board trains safely.
“The busiest times will be between 0900 and 1300 towards Henley, and after 1600 until later in the evening from Henley.
“Bear in mind the time of your last train home if you are staying late.”
There will also be changes to stopping patterns and timings at stations along the Twyford–Henley line to allow for the increased capacity and longer boarding times.
While regular commuters have already been notified, all travellers are urged to double-check their journey before setting off.
