HOW THE suffragettes campaigned in Reading will be the focus for a new talk next month.
The Wokingham Society is holding an open meeting on Wednesday, June 19, in Wokingham Town Hall.
Guest speaker Dr Margaret Simons will look at the beginnings of the movement, back in 1866, through to the success of the campaign in 1928.
An initial petition was signed by just one person, but there were mass demonstrations and direct action in the early years of the 20th century.
The event starts at 7.45pm, and includes light refreshments afterwards. Entry is free.
