One of Wokingham’s busiest roads, connecting Jennett’s Park with the town centre, was closed to traffic this evening after being flooded. It is not expected to re-open until tomorrow morning.
A burst water main has turned the road into a lake, with residents reporting that it is a foot deep in places.
One reader told The Wokingham Paper: “The water was nearly a foot deep and flowing toward the house on the left. The road was a river.”
They took pictures from their car’s dash cam.
While another resident sent in pictures of a team from Clancy Docwra on site, fixing the burst water main.
Thames Valley Police have warned drivers not to use the road.
In a tweet they said: “Waterloo Road in Wokingham is currently closed due to a burst water main which has caused the road to collapse. It is likely to remain closed to the foreseeable.
“It’s a good job our officers have their 10 metre swimming badge!”
