Noel Hunt is raring to go ahead of his first task as Reading FC interim boss up against league leaders Burnley.
Despite having already sealed promotion to the Premier League, Burnley will have their sights set on finishing as Championship winners and can also break Reading’s record of 106 points in a single campaign.
Meanwhile, the Royals are fighting at the opposite end of the table and are in a scrap to try and secure survival.
“They’re the Man City of the Championship, let’s be honest,” said Hunt.
“The way they play is so impressive and eye catching. You’re drawn to watch it with the movements and rotation.
“I believe. It’s one point. We’ve got 15 points to play for. Our only focus is Burnley and when the dust settles, we focus on Luton.
“We’ve got a game plan to play on Saturday with and without the ball. To get a result would be a massive plus for us.
“I want to see everything that comes with being a Reading player. Enthusiasm, work rate, the work ethic and emotion has to be 100%, the fire in the belly. They are our fundamentals.”
Hunt confirmed that the players are aware of Burnley’s task to try and break Reading’s point total and is determined for his team to prevent them from surpassing the 2005/06 team.
He continued: “People say records are there to be broken but we will do everything we can to try and stop that on Saturday.
“The players are aware of our record and it’s one we are very proud of and we will do everything we can to be proud of it.
“Watching them play last week and the manager speak, how focused and dedicated they are. They’re got a vast squad. I don’t think there will be any rest up from Burnley. I don’t see them letting up so I don’t expect an easy ride.
“Our meeting yesterday was about whoever you are, whether that’s the starting eleven, the subs, young lads, injured boys, we’ve all got a massive part to play this season and the best way to do that is by sticking together.”
