A Woodley man has issued a strongly worded rebuke to thieves who stole money from charity collection pots last weekend.
Ronnie Goodberry created a Hallowe’en wonderland in the front garden of his home in Shackleton Way to raise money for BiBs (Babies in Buscot Support) a registered charity that supports babies and their families in the special care baby unit at Buscot Ward at the Royal Berkshire hospital.
Speaking to Wokingham Today, Ronnie said he felt sick that someone would steal from such a deserving cause.
He said: “We had a lot of people in the garden on Saturday night, and we have CCTV covering the displays.”
“The money, which was about £70, has been replaced so the charity will not lose out, but obviously that’s not the point.”
Despite the theft, Ronnie said the theft will not deter him for future fundraising efforts.
“I cannot let this incident ruin the fun for the vast majority of people.”
Due the the weather, Ronnie has been forced to scale back his display, which will remain until tomorrow evening (Tuesday).
