THREE CANDIDATES have put their names in the ring for the Evendons by-election which will take place next month.
Nominations closed on Friday, January 11 for the seat.
The by-election has been called following the decision to resign by Liberal Democrat Helen Power.
She scooped the seat from the Conservatives last May, claiming the scalp of then Conservative Executive member Mark Ashwell.
However, ill-health has meant that she has had to take the decision to step down. You can read her story in an exclusive interview in this week’s Wokingham Paper, which is on sale now.
Standing for the Conservatives is Daniel Clawson, who has previously stood for election in Norreys East for Wokingham Town Council. That by-election was won by Labour’s Abby Tebboth.
The Liberal Democrat candidate is Sarah Kerr. She has been active in the Evendons’ Residents Association.
Labour’s candidate is Tim Lloyd, who stood for Hillside in last May’s borough elections, where he came third behind winner Chris Smith (Conservatives) and Liberal Democrat candidate Sue Smith.
The by-election will be held on Thursday, February 7.
Profiles of each of the candidates will appear in next week’s Wokingham Paper.
