Woodley’s Coronation Hall venue for singing, cake and tea
EVERYTHING started with tea for a local charity.
Last month, supporters of Chemogiftbags came together for an afternoon tea party in Woodley’s Coronation Hall.
As well as delicious cakes and lashings of tea, the organisers treated their guests with two live acts: Ma Bessie Duo and Albie J.
Lynne Shipton, who runs the charity, said: “We had a lovely afternoon tea attended by ladies and gents.
“The atmosphere was a really happy one, so much so that people were dancing in the isles.
“It was a sell out event and we raised the amazing total of £1,654.96 from tickets sales, tombola and raffle. This will be put straight back into the charity to purchase more Chemogiftbags.”
The bags are given to breast cancer patients undergoing chemo and in the Thames Valley area and include items suitable for use before, during and after chemotherapy. All of the items are donated by members of the public or local businesses.
Ms Shipton added: “ We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who attended the event, our volunteers and also our sponsors. It was a great success.”
