Planning officers at Wokingham borough council have refused plans to replace sash windows on a historic building in the Market Place.
The site features an 18th century, three-storey terraced property in the heart of the Wokingham town centre at 3-4 Market Place.
The Grade II Listed property was recognised by Historic England in November 1951.
The application for Listed Building Consent was for the proposed replacement of vertical sliding timber sash casements to first and second floor windows on the front elevation.
Officers refused the application, saying: “The proposal would have an adverse visual impact on the traditional appearance, setting and character of the Grade-II listed building, and the character and appearance of the Wokingham town centre Conservation Area.
“Moreover, the supporting heritage statement fails to provide clear and convincing justification for any subsequent harm.”
