Optimism was in the air on Monday evening when Wokingham Town Football Club held its first training session of the new season.
The event at Emmbrook School saw more than 35 players being put through their paces by managerial team Darren Purbrick and Matt Eggleston.
Attendees included players from last season’s Wokingham & Emmbrook squad along with trialists.
Darren expressed his pleasure with the turnout for the first session, with a number of players missing due to existing holiday and work commitments.
The team, who will be playing under the name of Wokingham Town for the first time in more than 20 years to celebrate what will be the 150th season since the club was formed, will again play in the Premier Division North of the Combined Counties league.
Training sessions will take place twice a week, along with a series of friendly matches, prior to the start of the season in August.
