Train services between London Paddington and the Thames Valley are currently delayed, cancelled or on hold following today’s fatality at Twyford Station.

British Transport Police have been attending the scene after a person died following an incident with a train.

Services are running between Reading and London Paddington but not stopping at Twyford, Taplow and Burnham. A rail replacement coach is being arranged for commuters stranded at the station.

At the moment, the first train due to arrive at Twyford is the 17.48 to London Paddington, but other services are cancelled or delayed.

The first train to stop at Twyford from London Paddington is the 18.07 to Oxford.

Rail services are not expected to get back to normal until 6.30pm.

First Great Western issues advice

First Great Western, which operates services on the London Paddington line said that train services may be cancelled, delayed by up to 90 minutes or revised. Twyford, Taplow and Burnham will not be served.

Passengers with tickets can use them on Chiltern Railways, Cross Country, South West Trains and London Underground via any reasonable route until further notice.

However, alternative routes can add up to 90 minutes to your journey and at this time GWR recommends that customers use Great Western Railway services as they may be quicker.

Using the bus:

The following services are all accepting GWR tickets this evening

First Bus route 2:

Slough (Bus Station Bay 8) – Windsor (Theatre Royal), First Bus route 13: Slough (Bus Station Bay 12) Burnham (Station)

First Bus route 4:

Maidenhead (Town Centre Stop S2) – Taplow (Bath Rd) – Burnham (Everitts Corner) – Slough (Bus Station Bay 4)

First Bus route 7

Slough (Bus Station Stop G) – Langley (Harrow Market) – Heathrow (T5) – Heathrow (Central Bus Station), First Bus route X74: Slough (Bus Station) – High Wycombe (Bus Station)

First Bus route 8: Slough (Bus Station Bay 8) – Windsor (Theatre Royal) – Egham (Church Road).

London Buses route 105: Greenford (Station) – Southall (Station) – Heathrow (Central Bus Station), London Buses route 140: Hayes & Harlington – Heathrow (Central Bus Station), London Buses route 195: Hayes & Harlington (Station) – Southall (Station) – Hanwell (Broadway), London Buses route 207: Acton (Central Station) – Ealing Broadway – West Ealing – Hanwell – Southall – Hayes, London Buses route E1: Ealing Broadway (Stop D) – Drayton Green (Stop DH), London Buses route E11: Ealing Broadway (Stop K) – West Ealing – Drayton Green – Castle Bar Park and London Buses route U5: Hayes & Harlington (Stop L) – West Drayton (Station) – Uxbridge are conveying passengers via any reasonable route until further notice.

Arrangements have been made for Great Western Railway rail tickets to be accepted for these journeys.

During this disruption if you wish to use local buses as an alternative means of transport and the local bus is not accepting Great Western Railway tickets purchase a ticket for the bus journey, keep the bus ticket and send it, together with your rail ticket, to GWR for a refund of the bus fare.
