When I envisage a perfect holiday destination one place that always lingers in my mind is Mauritius.

Once you visit, you will be amazed by the abundance of experiences to be had on and off this idyllic island.

In Mauritius, you can scale up mountains, jump into waterfalls, fly out of planes, dive to the depths of the Indian Ocean, survey the lush landscape on horseback or simply allow the gentle trade winds to sway your hammock from side to side.

It boasts an abundance of excellent hotel choices catering from families to romantic escapes for you newlyweds.

Many are dotted along the inviting coastline many with the dramatic landscape of picturesque volcanic peaks.

In Mauritius, you will find your own slice of heaven.

As you venture beyond the grounds of your resorts, you will not only discover but immerse yourself into activities plentiful for all fitness levels and abilities.

And all of these can be easily arranged prior to departing for those who can unwind and relax and have every aspect taken care of, but for the traveller who loves to take each day as it comes, they can easily be arranged through the tourist hubs on the island.

For those looking for activities keeping you firmly on solid ground you must not look past a hike through the Black River Gorges National Park or perhaps horse riding along the beach at Riambel is more your style.

I believe the bird’s eye view of the island you get as you zip-line over the treetops at Casela World of Adventures is a must for all.

Let’s not forget Mauritius is an island so while we look inland for activities the water-based activities coupled with experiencing the marine life are not to be missed.

Many of the beach front resorts will offer stand-up paddle-boarding, windsurfing and kayaking.

Alternatively, spend the day lazing on one of the multiple yacht or catamaran sailings or challenge your skills with a deep-sea fishing expedition.

For those who have always wondered what it would be like to go under the sea among the vibrant corals and dazzling fish, take advantage of an undersea walk on the ocean bed.

Sea walkers wear a special helmet connected to breathing apparatus, meaning you don’t even have to remove your glasses.

The sun shines all year round in Mauritius so make your trip to this paradise idyll happen in 2019.

With an abundance of activities for everyone, you will have an amazing holiday. You will not be disappointed.
