SUZY TURNER claimed individual and team glory at the British Riding Club Arena Eventing Championships.
Competing for Wokingham and Bearwood Riding Club, Turner, who this year stepped down as the club’s 14 years as chairwoman, battled the difficult conditions to emerge victorious at Aston Le Walls in Northamptonshire.
“The champs and team win was such a great conclusion to the handover of the chair position,” said Turner.
“After 14 years at the heart of the club it was wonderful to be back with the committee and members at the champs and a wonderful reminder of just how special WBRC is.
“It was extra special to have the old and new chairman on the team and share the win.”

The new chairwoman, Jo Ridgley, was also part of the team win.
“It’s pretty daunting to step into Suzy’s shoes as she’s seen the club through a lot of challenge and growth,” said Ridgley.
“I hope to lead the committee in providing all the events that our members want and continue to grow the supportive and friendly community.”
She added: “The conditions were pretty tough, it was so windy that the jumps kept getting blown over.
“The support from all the riders and helpers epitomised what the club is about and of course, we all love getting rosettes.”
The other members of the 70cm winning team were Leanne Carrel and Phoebe Matthews while the quartet of the junior 90cm victorious side was Alice Gardener, Ele Sparkes, Annabelle Howie and Beatrice Ward.
