HUNDREDS of children enjoyed a host of fun in Woodley town centre as the annual free fun day returned on Bank Holiday Monday.
The Crockhamwell Road precinct was transformed into a wonderland for the day to enable youngsters to make the most of the start of half-term.
At the pagoda end, Cathy Valentine and her team from Circus Scene were on hand to help with circus skills, face painting and chalk drawing. Large bubbles were also hugely popular, as were magic shows and a Punch and Judy.
Outside Iceland, pianist Tim Valentine performed while Basil & Crew brought along a range of animals including sheep, goats and Shetland ponies for children to enjoy and there were a number of refreshment and information stalls.
Ice cream was available from Mario D’Auria, who has the UK’s only ice cream van that used to be a black cab.

Woodley Town Centre manager Jacques Lherbier told The Wokingham Paper: “It’s been going great, it’s been a lovely day in the town centre with loads of people and lots and lots of entertainment for the local residents.
“We’ve had some animals – ducks, horses, children are having lots of fun really enjoying it.
“Then we’ve had circus acts, Punch and Judy show and live music with Tim Valentine.
“It’s been a nice day and everyone seems to be having a great time.”
