Mums’ Zone is a holistic health and wellbeing intervention targeting inactive mums.
It aims to improve mental health and wellbeing by offering a programme (approx. 2 hours per week for 26 weeks) of physical activity and health and wellbeing support, messaging and signposting as well as an opportunity for mums to get together in a comfortable setting to aid social networking and peer support.
We are recruiting female volunteers who have an affiliation with the project, be it a keen interest to support new mums, improve the lives of women and girls or as a mum themselves who has encountered challenges.
The volunteers will support the sessions whether it be taking registration, offering peer support, offering health and wellbeing advice or supporting with the babies when the activity is taking place.
It is envisaged that the role will develop over time. The sessions will take place on Mondays, 10am-noon, St Crispin’s Leisure Centre in Wokingham and Fridays, 1pm-3pm at The Rainbow Centre, Rainbow Park, Winnersh.
Volunteers are required to attend a FREE one-day health and wellbeing training day which will cover more about the programme, including; behaviour change, mental health and motivational messaging which is take place on Tuesday, April 25.
A DBS is required and will be provided free of charge.
Explore is a relationships education charity, which delivers workshops that help young people discuss and evaluate long-term, positive, healthy relationships within the context of marriage.
Explore works within secondary schools,
using real couples to model to the students what marriage is. Young people today are exposed to many influences (social media, reality TV stars, peers, broken homes etc.), often giving them an unhealthy and/or unrealistic view of what relationships are meant to be.
Explore want to give young people a space to explore and evaluate healthy relationships and to give them hope — regardless of their experiences or preconceptions — and life skills for their future relationships.
They are looking for married couples who are willing to sit in front of a group of teenagers (alongside a facilitator who is running the session) and answer questions about their relationship experiences, they aren’t looking for ‘perfect’ couples just couples that are willing to be open, genuine and honest.
