The Wokingham Job Support Centre (WJSC) provides free unlimited advice, support and guides to job seekers, delivered by local experts to residents of Wokingham Borough and Bracknell Town. We were established over 30 years ago and have helped 1000’s or people find a new or better job. We are currently trying to recruit two ne volunteers; a Marketing Manager and an Advisor. Firstly, we are looking for a volunteer to run our marketing & awareness activities, using social media and more traditional channels. Some experience in Marketing is essential. Experience in marketing of small businesses/charities would be of great value but is not essential. This is a end to end role, requiring the manager to plan, design and deliver the marketing activities, supported by the Centre Supervisors and Trustees. We anticipate that between 3 and 4 days a month (total time) will be required to perform the role. Secondly, we are looking for an additional Client Advisor. This role is to advise and guide clients through the job search and employment process, helping the job seeker to understand their skills and any gaps, and to secure the best job for themselves and the employer. Meeting with clients 1-2-1 will either be at our Centre at the Cornerstone, a local outreach location or on-line/telephone. Experience of recruitment and/or HR processes is essential, preferably with coaching qualifications and experience. We anticipate that 1 half day a week will be required to perform the role, plus from time to time participation in team and charity development and strategy events.

Do you like being part of a team, getting fresh air and helping people in need? If so, then the Green ‘n’ Tidy gardening scheme could be the volunteer role for you! Green ‘n’ Tidy provides a basic gardening service for elderly and disabled residents of Wokingham Borough who cannot maintain their own properties, do not have local family support and/or lack the financial resources to employ commercial companies. This project does not compete with established gardening businesses as we are a charity and the team of volunteers provides basic gardening, including lawn mowing, hedge trimming and weeding, to vulnerable people in need. In order to help far more clients across Wokingham Borough, we are expanding our scheme. To be able to do this, we need more help! We are looking for volunteers to help an average of one morning per week, although we can be flexible with this, if you can only help 2 or 3 mornings per month for example. Our teams go out 6 days a week (Mondays to Saturdays) usually 9am to 1pm approximately across Wokingham Borough and you can sign up to a regular day to be part of a regular team.

SalGO Assist are a charity based in Wokingham that supports work among the poor and disadvantaged in Andhra Pradesh, S India. With our Indian partners, SalGOERCO, we maintain two Children’s Homes, family & widows support, and a small home for the elderly. We also provide educational support to young people. Support is also given to HIV/Aids families and landless communities. We are looking for a new Treasurer to help support our vital work. Ideally we are looking for a qualified accountant for the role, but otherwise someone with an understanding of finance is important and understanding UK charity financial accounting would be beneficial.

If you are interested in discussing any of these roles, please get in touch with the Wokingham Volunteer Centre on 0118 977 0749 or email [email protected]. To search through all of our volunteering opportunities, please visit our website www.volunteerwokinghamborough.org.uk
